  • On 19th March, 2017, five-time BJP MP from Gorakhpur, Adityanath Yogi took oath as the 21st chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh along with two deputy chief ministers and 44 ministers.
  • Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dr. Dinesh Sharma were sworn in as deputy Chief Ministers of the state.
  • 22 Cabinet Ministers, 13 Minister of State and 9 Minister of State with Independent Charge (total 44) were sworn in by the state Governor Sri Ram Naik.
  • Council of Ministers includes five women, one of Cabinet rank, two ministers of state (independent charge) and two ministers of state.
  • Prominent figures like Rita Bahuguna Joshi, former Test cricketer Chetan Chauhan, Swami Prasad Maurya, Shrikant Sharma and Siddharth Nath Singh have been given Cabinet rank.

  • Adityanath’s birth name is Ajay Singh Bisht and he was born at Panchur, Pauri Garhwal.
  • He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from the Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University in Srinagar, Uttarakhand.
  • Adityanath was made Peethadhishwar of Gorakhnath Temple on 14 September 2014.
  • He was elected to the Lok Sabha in 1998 for the first time.
