- The index ranked 140 countries in terms of generosity of its people.
- World Giving Index, 2016 is based on the following three charitable acts:
1. Donated money to a charity.
2. Volunteered your time to an organization.
3. Helped a stranger, or someone they didn’t know who needed help. - This year 148,000 people in 140 countries were surveyed as part of the Gallup World Poll.
- Myanmar is once again ranked first in the World Giving Index 2016.
- Myanmar held the top spot on its own in 2015 and jointly with the USA in 2014.
- Myanmar’s 2016 overall score is 70%.
- Index is followed by USA with score of 61% ranked second , Australia with score of 60% ranked third, New Zealand(59%) ranked fourth and Sri Lanka(57%) ranked fifth.
- Last five countries of the list are China (140th place), Palestine (139th place), Yemen (138th place), Greece (137th place) and Congo (136th place).
- In the World Giving Index, 2016 India has been ranked 91st (score -29%).
- Last year (2015) India was ranked 106th among the 145 countries.
