  • On April 6, 2017; Union Minister of State for Home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir launched the website for the second meeting of National Platform on Disaster Risk Reduction (NPDRR).
  • The second meeting of National Platform on Disaster Risk Reduction is proposed to be held during 24-25 April, 2017 in New Delhi on provisional basis.
  • The theme of this two-day meeting is’ Disaster Risk Reduction: ‘Making India Flexible By 2030’ for Sustainable Development.
  • NPDRR is a multi-stakeholder national Platform chaired by the Union Home Minister, which includes representatives of the Central Government, State Government, local self-government, parliament, disaster related experts, agencies, institutions of national importance, industry, media, and civil society organizations.
  • It promotes participation in decision-making in disaster management and strengthens the country’s federal policy.
  • It is worth mentioning that the first meeting of the NPDRR was held on May 13, 2013 in New Delhi.
