- On 17 January, 2019 Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the state of art, super-specialty public hospital – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Ahmedabad.
- The hospital, built by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, is 78 meter high, provided with 1500 bed and equipped with all modern amenities, including an air ambulance.
- Rs. 750 crore has been spent on the construction of the 17 floor hospital and it would provide world class services at an affordable price and is linked with Ayushman Bharat.
