  • He along with Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, participated in the 16th India-Russia Annual Summit.
  • The two Leaders held extensive and substantive discussions to review progress in bilateral relations since the last Annual Summit and their meeting on the margins of the BRICS Summit in Ufa in July 2015.

  • After successful completion of the dialogue both the countries signed 16 Agreements/MoUs covering critical areas like energy, education, security, research and development, these are:
  • Protocol amending the agreement, which was signed on 21 December 2010, between India and Russia on simplification of requirements for mutual travels of certain categories of citizens of the two countries was passed.
  • Protocol amending agreement between the Government of the Republic of India and the Government of the Russian Federation on mutual travel regime for holders of Diplomatic & Official Passports of 3 December 2004 was presented.
  • Agreement between the Government of the Republic of India and the Government of the Russian Federation on Cooperation in the field of Helicopter Engineering
  • Plan for Cooperation between the Federal Customs Service of the Central Board of Excise and Customs, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Republic of India and the Russian Federation for combating Customs violations in 2015 – 2017 was laid.
  • Programme of Action Agreed Between The Department of Atomic Energy of India And The Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation “Rosatom” for Localization of Manufacturing in India for Russian-Designed Nuclear Reactor Units.
  • Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Railways of the Republic of India and the Joint Stock company “Russian Railways “on technical cooperation in railway sector.
  • MoU between Solar Energy Corporation of India and Russian Energy Agency regarding construction of solar energy plants in the Republic of India
  • MoU for cooperation between HEC & CNIITMASH for development of Centre of Excellence for heavy engineering design at HEC was signed.
  • Memorandum of Understandingbetween Prasar Bharati and Digital Television Russia on Cooperation in the field of Broadcasting.

  • Moreover, the Prime Minister visited National Disaster Management Centre in Moscow.
  • After the visit of Russia, Prime Minister was on one-day official visit to Afghanistan on December 25, 2015.
  • The Prime Minister held detailed discussions with the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan H.E. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive H.E. Dr. Abdullah, and met the former President Hamid Karzai in Kabul.
  • President Ghani and Prime Minister Modi jointly dedicated to the Afghan nation the National Assembly Building constructed under India-Afghanistan development cooperation.
  • A block of National Assembly Building (Shora) is named after the former Prime Minister of India Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee.
  • Narendra Modi while returning to Delhi from Kabul on December 25, 2015 made an undeclared visit to Pakistan.
  • Previously in 2004, Atal Bihari Vajpayee visited Pakistan.
