  • On 24 January 2017; Government of India announced the Prime Minister’s Shram Awards for the year 2015.
  • This is to be awarded to 56 workers employed in the Departmental Undertakings & Public Sector Undertakings of the Central and State Governments and Private Sector Units.
  • The award is given the Units employing 500 or more workers.
  • The award is given in recognition of their distinguished performances, innovative abilities, outstanding contribution in the field of productivity and exhibition of exceptional courage and presence of mind.
  • They are four types of awards:
  • Shram Ratna, Shram Bhushan, Shram Vir / Shram Veerangana and Shram Devi / Shram Shree.
  • This year, no nomination was found suitable for the prestigious Shram Ratna Award.
  • Total number of Shram Bhushan Awardees is four. It carries a cash award of Rs. 1,00,000/- and a ‘Sanad’. Four nominations including one female were found suitable for the Shram Bhushan Award.
  • Total number of Shram Vir/Shram Veerangana Awards is twelve. It carries a cash award of Rs. 60,000/- and a ‘Sanad’. Total number of Shram Vir/Shram Veerangana Awardees is twenty four including one female.
  • Total number of Shram Shree/Shram Devi Awardees is sixteen. It carries a cash award of Rs. 40,000/- and a ‘Sanad’. Total number of Shram Vir/Shram Veerangana Awardees is twenty eight including one female.
