- On 27th May, 2018, according to senior officials of the Earth Science Ministry the Indian Meteorological Department has partnered with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to send a warning of severe weather.
- Its purpose is to provide the public with warning information about extreme weather.
- In the case of worst weather, the Indian Meteorological Department will send alert to BSNL, and with the help of BSNL technology, this alert will be forwarded to all BSNL customers registered in Delhi area.
- This is an experimental phase and will be shared with other weather agencies after its success.
