  • On 5 April 2016 the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee presented the National Geoscience Awards – 2014 at a function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
  • The awards given in various disciplines is as follows:
  • Ashok Kumar Singhvi has been awarded with the Award For Excellence in National Geoscience Awards-2014.
  • Muduru Lachhana Dora, Biswajeet Lenka, Syed Ajaz Ahmad and Hemraj Suryavanshi has beeen awarded for Mineral Discovery & Exploration.
  • Vijay V. Mugal, Lalit Khasdeo and Kaushik Rajbanshi has been awarded for Coal, Lignite and Coal Bed Methane Discovery & Exploration.
  • Abhijit Mukherjee has been awarded for Ground water Exploration while Dr. Satyendra Kumar Singh and Prof. Arvind Kumar Mishra has been awarded for the Mining Technology.
  • Sreenivas Tumulr and Dr. Swati Mohanty has been awarded for the Mineral Beneficiation where as Dr. Khanindra Pathak won the award for Sustainable Mineral Development.
  • Dewashish Upadhyay, Dr. Prasanta Sanyal and Dr. Rajeev Patnaik won the award in discipline of Basic Geosciences. Milind V. Dhakate, Gautam Saha, Rashtrapal H. Chavhan and Prashant Tukaram Ilamkar won in the discipline of Applied Geology.
  • In Geophysics / Applied Geophysics the awards were given to Dr. Simanchal Padhy and Dr. Sandeep Kumar Gupta where as Dr. Nathani Basavaiah received the award in Geo-Environmental studies.
  • Balakrishnan Nair T., Dr. Francis P.A. , Dr. Harikumar R and Sandhya K. G. Won awards in the discipline of  Oceanography and Marine Geology.
  • For Glaciology and Arctic & Antarctic Research the awards were given to Dr. R. Venkatesan, M. Arul Muthiah,Dr. P. Krishnan, and B. Kesavakumar.
  • Indra Sekhar Sen won the Young Scientist Award.
  • The National Geoscience Awards, previously known as the National Mineral Awards.
  • It was instituted by the Ministry of Mines in 1966, to honour individuals and teams of scientists for their extraordinary achievements and outstanding contributions in fundamental and applied geosciences and mining and allied fields.
