  • On 20-21 March, 2017; a National Conference on ‘Empowerment of the deafs through Indian Sign Language’ was organized.
  • This conference was inaugurated by Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thaawarchand Gehlot.
  • This conference was organized by the Indian Sign Language Research and Training Center.
  • The purpose of this conference was to provide a public forum for the professionals involved in the field of Deaf Education, Indian Sign Language, Sign Linguistics Bilingualism, Interpreter Education and other related subjects.
  • The conference was organized in three languages namely Hindi, English and Sign Language.
  • Indian Sign Language Research and Training Center (TSLRTC), under the aegis of Divyangjan Empowerment Department under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment of the Government of India, is an autonomous organization established under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.
  • Its main objective is to develop human resources for teaching and research in Indian Sign Language, to develop Indian Sign Language as an educational medium, to do research work with the help of universities.
