- From 13-14 September, 2017, His Excellency Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan was on an official visit to India on September along with his wife Aki Abe.
- He was formally welcomed at Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad.
- After this, he paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi in Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad.
- During this visit, he visited the ancient Syedi Syed Mosque in Ahmedabad with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
- On September 14th, 2017 Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Shinzo Abe jointly laid the foundation stone of India’s first high-speed rail project between Ahmedabad and Mumbai.
