- On 29 March 2016 Najma Heptulla, the Union Minister for Minority Affairs launched innovative entrepreneurship and skill development programme of Maulana Azad National Academy for Skills (MANAS) in New Delhi.
- MANAS is a unique and first time initiative which has come up with an innovative scheme under which it proposes to use such leading celebrities in various skill sets as the driving force behind the skill development projects, in their respective fields, for the benefit of marginalised sections of minority communities.
- Traditional Educational Institutions of Minorities like Madrasas/Maktabs and others, have been linked to Skill Development Programme of Ministry of Minority Affairs (MOMA) through Maulana Azad National Academy for Skills.
- It was launched in order to fulfill the vision of “Skill India” and also achieve the over-riding goal of the Government of India “Sabka Saath – Sabka Vikas”.
- Maulana Azad National academy for Skills (MANAS) was established under the aegis of Ministry of Minority Affairs (MOMA) by National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation (NMDFC) on 11th November, 2014.
- MANAS comprises of an extensive All India Level, Training Framework based on Collaboration (PPP mode) with leading and reputed Training Providers at National/ International level, in the country.
- MANAS provide an institutional arrangement to meet all Skill Development/Up-gradation needs of the Minority communities in the country.
