  • On March 24th, 2017, Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar presented the State budget for 2017-18 in Legislative Assembly.
  • During the budget speech he stated that State government has planned to make the State beggar free.
  • He added that for this purpose State government will make a full fledged rehabilitation centre for beggars and destitute.
  • It is worth mentioning that the number of beggars in Goa is increasing rapidly despite being a high per capita income State.
  • Previously, on March 16th, 2017, the new formed government of Manohar Parrikar had proved majority in Goa Assembly with support of 22 MLAs.
