    What is Mega Food Park Scheme?
  • The Scheme of Mega Food Park aims at providing a mechanism to link agricultural production to the market by bringing together farmers, processors and retailers so as to ensure maximizing value addition, minimizing wastage, increasing farmers’ income and creating employment opportunities particularly in rural sector.
  • The scheme is based on “Cluster” approach and envisages a well-defined agri/ horticultural-processing zone containing state-of-the art processing facilities with support infrastructure and well-established supply chain.
  • Mega food Park Scheme is being implemented with an aim to give a major boost to the food processing sector by adding value and reducing food wastage at each stage of the supply chain particularly perishables.
  • Mega Food Parks create modern infrastructure facilities for food processing along the value chain from farm to market.
  • Common facilities and enabling infrastructure is created at Central Processing Centre and facilities for primary processing and storage is created near the farm in the form of Primary Processing Centers and Collection Centers.
