- Nearly one lakh Chakma and Hajong refugees came from the erstwhile East Pakistan five decades ago and currently living in camps in the Northeast.
- Mostly, these refugees are staying in Arunachal Pradesh.
- National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju and Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Pema Khandu were present in the meeting.
- In 2015, the Centre was directed by the Supreme Court to confer citizenship to these refugees.
