  • Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) on 16 November 2015 released Global Terrorism Index 2015.
  • It is third edition which provide a comprehensive summary of the impact of terrorism in 162 countriesby representing it in terms of rank.
  • In the list of Countries most affected by terrorism Iraq (score 10) ranked at the top for the third consecutive year.
  • In this Index The index, Afghanistan (Score -9.233) is ranked Second, Nigeria (Score -9.213) Third, Pakistan (Score -9.065) fourth and Syria (8.108) is ranked fifth.
  • Out of the 162 countries, India is the sixth most affected country by terrorism in 2014 with the score of 7.747.
  • Last year also it was ranked sixth.
  • In India 763 terrorist incidents took place during 2013 and 2014, reflecting an increase of 20 percent in the terrorist incidents.
  • In year 2014, the number of deaths from terrorism reached to 416 which represents increase by one percentage compared to the last year.
  • Terrorist activity increased by 80 per cent in 2014 to its highest recorded level. The largest ever year-on-year increase in deaths from terrorism was recorded in 2014, rising from 18,111 in 2013 to 32,685 in 2014.
  • Fifty-seven per cent of all attacks and 78 per cent of all deaths occurred in only five countries; Iraq, Nigeria, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Syria.
  • To measure the impact of terrorism Global Terrorism Index uses four types of indicators, the number of terrorist incidents, the number of deaths, casualties and property damage levels.
  • First Global Terrorism Index (GTI) was launched by the Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP) on 4 December 2012.
