  • From April 6 to7, 2017, the first meeting of G-20 Digital Ministers on the digital economy was held in Dusseldorf, Germany.
  • During this two-day meeting, a Round Table Conference on ‘Digitization: Policies for a Digital Future’ was also co-hosted by the Global Forum of Women (W20) MPs.
  • Ravi Shankar Prasad, Hon’ble Union Minister for Electronics & IT and Law and Justice, was the representative of India in this meeting.
  • He expressed India’s view to supports better international cooperation in cyber security to fight against growing cybercrime and cyber terrorism.
  • It is noteworthy that G-20 was established in the year 1999 after the East Asian financial crisis.
  • The 11th summit of the G-20 was held in Hangzhou, China on September 4-5, 2016.
  • The 12th summit of the G-20 is proposed in Germany.
  • Its first meeting took place in 2008 in Washington (U.S.A.).
