- On 14 August 2016 the first ever BIO-CNG project in India was inaugurated in Pune.
- The project was inaugurated by the Union Minister of surface Transport Nitin Gadkari and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.
- The plant has been commissioned by city-based Primove Engineering Private Limited, and will use agricultural residue to generate CNG that can be used as fuel in automobiles.
- Bio-Fuel will help in reducing the import of diesel up to 50 % and therefore the huge amount of Foreign Exchange will be saved.
- The plant located in Pirangut, Pune, has been set up as a Proof of Concept (PoC) which can be replicated elsewhere.
- The company has invested around Rs 4.5 crore in the plant and has applied for a process patent for it. At least Rs 15 crore of investment is necessary for a 5-tonne standalone plant.
