  • On 1 July 2016 six militants opened fire on the Holey Artisan Bakery located in Dhaka, Capital city of Bangladesh in Gulshan -an affluent area with many embassies in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
  • After the attack, all the people taken hostage by militants in the restaurant, among hostages almost all were foreigners.
  • The operation to rescue hostages inside the Holey Artisan Bakery was launched by the Bangladesh Armed Forces named ‘Thunderbolt’.
  • The operation was led by the 1st Para-Commando Battalion of Bangladesh.
