- On March 8th, 2018, in a reconstruction bid for Nepal devastated by earthquake, India signed the agreement in Kathmandu for construction of earthquake victims in Nepal with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the United Nations Office Project Services (UNOPs).
- Under this agreement, India will provide financial assistance for the construction of 50,000 homes in Nepal.
- India will provide US $ 8.41 million to UN Office Project Services and US $ 7.41 million to UNDP for the construction of these 50,000 homes.
- It is to be noted that excessive destruction was caused by heavy earthquake in Himalayan country Nepal in April 2015.
- More than 10,000 people died in this earthquake and about 22,000 people were injured.
- The districts most affected by earthquake were Gorkha and Nuwakot.
