  • On 23 December, 2016; Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan inagurated Chhaigaon lift irrigation scheme.
  • The programme was held near Chhaigaon Krishi Mandi of District Khandwa.
  • This lift irrigation scheme has been made by the Narmada Valley Development Authority at the initiative of Chief Minister Shri Chouhan.
  • Moreover, the scheme will provide irrigation facility to the farmers who are deprived off irrigation facility from the Indira Sagar Irrigation Project on account of its geographical situation.
  • It may be highlighted that Chhaigaon lift irrigation scheme will provide irrigation facility on 35 thousand hectare land of 58 villages including 51 villages of Khandwa and 7 villages of Pandhana Tahsil.
  • The scheme to be constructed at an estimated construction cost of Rs. 536 crore 99 lakh will be completed in three years.
  • Moreover, under this special scheme irrigation, water will be provided through pipeline and water outlet will be given at every 2.5 hectare land area, which will facilitate pressure of at least 20 meter height.
