Question: Recently Assam tourism minister Himanta Biswa Sarma unveiled a new logo of Assam Tourism. The logo comprises-
(a) Elephant, Tea leaf, Brahmaputra River, Sunshine
(b) One-horned rhinoceros in the backdrop of a sun, tea in the form of two leaves and a bud, the Brahmaputra in blue stripes.
(c) Leopard, Sun, Elephant, Brahmaputra River

  • On 4 September 2016 Assam tourism minister Himanta Biswa Sarma unveiled a new logo of Assam Tourism with the tagline ‘Awesome Assam’.
  • The logo has a one-horned rhinoceros in the backdrop of a sun, tea in the form of two leaves and a bud, the Brahmaputra in blue stripes and the words “Awesome Assam” in green.
  • This is aimed at promoting the state at a globally.
  • Rs 15 crore had been allotted to promote tourism in the media.
  • For developing Kamakhya’s tourist infrastructure alone we have allotted Rs 33 crore.
  • Under ‘Swadesh Darshan’ Scheme, the Govt. Of India has also allocated 120 Crores for 5 National parks of the state.
  • Majuli Island (located in the middle of Brahmaputra River) is Assam’s famous tourist spot.
