  • On 25 July 2016 former Diplomat Arundhati Gosh passed away in New Delhi. She was 76.
  •  She was the Ambassador of India to the Conference on Disarmament (CD), Geneva, where India faced exceptional pressure to sign CTBT during the mid- 1990s.
  • On August 8, 1996, in an assertive speech, Arundhati Ghose conveyed India’s opposition to the CTBT.
  •  She was a member of the UN Secretary General’s Advisory Board on Disarmament Matters from 1998 to 2001. She was a Member of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) from 1998 to 2004.
  • She was also a member of Task Force on non-proliferation and Disarmament set up by the Ministry of External Affairs in 2007.
  • She was awarded with Friends of Liberation War Honour by the Government of Bangladesh on 27 March 2012.
