- On January 2nd, 2018, Uttar Pradesh Cabinet approved the amendment to the Uttar Pradesh Building and other Construction Workers (Planning and Service-Condition Regulation) Rules-2009 for providing easy access of financial aid to the registered construction workers for the construction of home.
- The period of contribution of workers in rule 281 of the Basic Rules, 2009 has been reduced through the Uttar Pradesh Building and other construction workers (Planning and Service condition Regulation) (Second Amendment) Rules, 2017.
- Under this, the period of contribution of workers has been reduced from minimum five years to one year.
- This will enable more workers to avail the benefits of financial assistance for housing construction / purchase.
- In view of limited manpower in the labor department, ensuring transparency and objectivity in the survey, and in view of massive cess liability construction, it was decided to conduct GIS survey to mark such constructions by the UP Building and other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
- The approach to making more clear arrangements in these rules amendment has been done in Rule 283 of the Basic Rules, 2009, through the Building and Other Construction Workers (Planning and Service-Condition Regulation) (Third Amendment) Rules, 2017.
