  • On December 13, 2017, India signed a loan agreement with the World Bank for USD 250 million IBRD to acquire skills for earning livelihood and project for the San Kalp-Skills Acquisition and Knowedge Awarenes for Livelihood Promotion.
  • The agreement was signed by Joint Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs Sameer Kumar Khare and Junaid Kamal Ahmed (Country Director of the World Bank).
  • The purpose of this project is to develop organized mechanisms for skill development and increase accessibility for quality and market friendly training for workforce.
  • In the main area of ​​the project, institutional strengthening involves monitoring the plans, distribution and high quality market-friendly training at the national and state level.
  • Besides, better access to skills development programs and market relevance, skill training of women trainees and other required groups, better reach and completion and expanding skill training through private public partnership (PPP) is included.
  • Completion date of this project is 31 March, 2023.
