  • On January 3rd, 2018, information was given to the Union Cabinet about the MoU between India and Italy for cooperation in renewable energy sector.
  • This MoU was signed on 30th October, 2017 in New Delhi.
  • This agreement was signed by Secretary Anand Kumar in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy of the Government of India and Italian Ambassador to India Lorenzo Angeloni.
  • Under this agreement, the aim has been put to establish a proper basis for cooperative institutional relationship to promote technical bilateral cooperation on issues related to new and renewable energy based on mutual benefits, equality and reciprocity in both countries. .
  • It has been envisaged to set up a Joint Executive Committee to review, monitor and discuss issues related to cooperation in this Memorandum of Understanding.
  • The objective is to help to exchange expertise (special knowledge) and information between the two countries and to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
