Context
- Defence minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the Aero India 2021 in Bengaluru on 3rd February 2021.
Facts
- Aero India is a biennial air show which was first held in 1996.
- It is held at the Yelahanka Air Force Station Bengaluru, India every two year since 1996.
- The Defence Ministry of India, Indian Air Force, Defence Research and Development Organisation(DRDO), Department of Space the Union Civil Aviation Ministry and other such organisations join hands to organise the Aero India show, making it the largest air show in Asia.
Aero India 2021
- It is 13th edition of Aero India which is being organised amid covid pandemic.
- This year there is no public show, which means the show which is for three days from Feb 3 to Feb 5 will be all business days.
- Apart from the air display, there will be integrating seminars, Business to Business events, and product displays etc. at the show.
- There will also be a India Pavilion which is based on the theme of Rotary wings.
- The Karnataka government Department of Industrial Training and Employment (DITE), in collaboration with Tata Technologies will be showcasing their initiative – Transformation of 150 Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) into Technological Hubs – during the show.
- Other conferences that will be organised during the show are Conclave of Defence Ministers of Indian Ocean Region (IOR), Conclave of Chiefs of Air Staff from Feb 3-4 of 75 countries & India – Russia Military Industrial Conference.
