  • On December 21st 2017, Justice U.D. Salvi took charge as the new acting Chairperson of the National Green Tribunal (NGT).
  • He will serve this post till the appointment of the new permanent Chairperson or upto his retirement on February 13, 2018, whichever is earlier.
  • At this post, he replaced Justice Swatan Kumar.
  • Earlier, he was acting as a judicial member in the NGT.
  • The fact is that the NGT was established on October 18, 2010 under the National Green Tribunal Act, 2010.
