  • On January 9th, 2018, the Matunga Railway station, located in Mumbai Division of Central Railway, was announced to be selected in the Limca Book of Records, 2018.
  • This is the first railway station in India where all the employees are women.
  • A total of 41 women are engaged in the work of staff station operations, commerce activity, railway security force etc.
  • It is notable that in the year 1992, Mamta Kulkarni was associated with the Indian Railways as the country’s first female assistant station master. She is currently the Station Master of Matunga Railway Station.
