- In March, 2018, the public sector oil company “Indian Oil Corporation (IOC)” has started the service of home delivery of diesel.
- The one-of-its-kind initiative has started in the city of Pune, Maharashtra and will be expanded to in other parts of the country.
- This service has begun after getting approval fromPetroleum and Explosives Protection Organization (PESO).
- Home delivery ofpetrol is also likely to start soon.
- It is known that ANB Fuels had started the initiative in Bengaluru last year under the brand name “MyPetrolPump”.
- The service had to suspend operations within four days of commencing after PESO issued a circular to oil companies directing it to not supply fuel to the start-up due to safety reasons.
- The Indian Oil Corporation starting this service approved byPESO is the first company.
- Like IOC, public retail fuel marketing companies Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) have also got the approval of PESO for home delivery of diesel.
- They have been given other areas for pilot operations, where this facility will be started soon.
- It is known that Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had announced in April last year about his plan of home delivery of diesel and petrol and companies are considering the same.
