  • As part of its efforts to promote probity in public life and to achieve a corruption free society, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will observe the Vigilance Awareness Week from 28th October to 2nd November, 2019.
  • The week will be observed as per directions of Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), Government of India to ensure greater awareness among all the stakeholders in fight against corruption.
  • The theme of the vigilance awareness this year is “Integrity- a way of life”.
  • During the week-long Vigilance Awareness campaign, various activities like public interaction for redressal of their grievances, usage of generic medicines, surprise inspections, conducting seminars, workshops, debates among students, faculty, children of staff/ officers, poster competitions, essay writing, quiz, painting competitions inculcating moral/ethical values, and other vigilance related awareness activities will be carried out in sync with the theme of the year 2019.
  • The competition winners will be felicitated with awards.

About Central Vigilance Commission (CVC):

  • Central Vigilance Commission is an apex vigilance institution set up by the Government in February, 1964 on the recommendations of the Committee on Prevention of Corruption, headed by K. Santhanam, to advise and guide Central Government agencies in the field of vigilance.
  • It monitors all vigilance activity under the Central Government and advises various authorities in Central Government organizations in planning, executing, reviewing and reforming their vigilant work.
  • At present,Sharad Kumar is the Central Vigilance Commissioner.
