  • On 14 May 2016 Former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman, Scientist and Professor Udupi Ramachandra Rao, popularly known as U. R. Rao has been selected for the ‘International Astronautical Federation (IAF) Hall of Fame’ award for 2016.
  • With this he became the first Indian to be inducted with the ‘International Astronautical Federation (IAF) Hall of Fame’.
  • He has been selected for his outstanding contribution to the development of astronautics within the framework of the IAF activities.
  • The IAF Hall of Fame consists of a permanent gallery of these personalities, including a citation, biographical information, and a picture, in a special part of the IAF web presence.
