- On 15th August, 2019; the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Edappadi K Palaniswami made an announcement on trifurcation of Vellore District.
- Ranipet and Tirupattur are the new districts carved out of Vellore and after the trifurcation; Tamil Nadu will now have 37 districts.
