  • On October 2nd, 2017, Ministry of Environment inaugurated the third National Wildlife Action Plan for wildlife conservation.
  • India’s National Wildlife Action Plan (NWAP) is of fifteen years, for the period 2017-2031.
  • For the first time the third National Wildlife Action Plan recognized the concerns related to the impact of climate change on wildlife.
  • The scheme was launched on the occasion of Inauguration of the Global Wildlife Programme.
  • GWP Initiative was started in year 2015.
  • From the GWP conference, India will be aware of better practices for reducing wildlife habitat management and human wildlife conflict situations.
  • Fifteen year work plan was initiated in February, 2016.
  • This plan was drafted by a 12-member committee chaired by JC Kala, a former secretary to the ministry.
  • The Center will provide sufficient and continuous funds for the implementation of the scheme.
  • The corporate social responsibility fund will also be used.
