About Scrub Typhus-
- ‘Srub typhus’ is a mite born disease caused by a bacteria called Orientia tsutsugamushi, which is transmitted through the bite of infected mite larvae in soil containing scrub vegetation.
- It is an infectious disease.
- It is transmitted by mites found in the hilly areas and also be transmitted by lice, ticks and fleas.
- It is also called bush typhus.
- It can be treated easily if doctors diagnose it early.
Treatments-
- It should be treated with the antibiotic Doxycycline.
- Doxycycline can be used in persons of any age.
Preventive measures-
- Control the spread of rodents.
- Domestic animals should be cleaned regularly
- During the visit in jungle or in an area where lot of shrubs, skin should be properly covered.
