- To help the students of Assam pursuing higher studies, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal launched the Abhinandan scheme on 26 December 2019.
- This education loan subsidy scheme was launched during a programme held at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati.
- Objective of the scheme is to provide loan wavier to students of Assam who has availed Educational loans.Under this,one time subsidy of INR 50,000 shall be deposited in bank account.
- Geared towards raising the welfare of students, those benefiting from the scheme should have taken loans of a minimum of 1 lakh.
- As per Assam State Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma 5,000 students in Assam are currently pursuing higher studies in the state.
- The loan will benefit 1500 students in the first batch and 3000 students will earn benefit in the second batch.
