  • According to article 52 of Indian Constitution, there shall be a President of India.under Article 53 (1) The executive power of the Union shall be vested in the President and shall be exercised by him either directly or through officers subordinate to him in accordance with the Constitution. According to article 77 (1), All executive action of the Government of India shall be expressed to be taken in the name of the President.
  • Under Article 53 (2), the supreme command of the Defence Forces of the Union shall be vested in the President and the exercise thereof shall be regulated by law.
  • Thus, the head of state of the Republic of India is the President.
  • Notification of 15th Presidential election forthe election of India’s 14th President was released on June 14, 2017
  • Anup Mishra, general secretary of the Lok Sabha, was appointed the Returning Officer for this election by the Election Commission.
