- The Ministry of Women and Child Development has invited nominations for the 2018 Nari Shakti Puraskar, the Highest Civilian Honour for Women in India. Nominations are open till 31st October, 2018.
- There is also provision for self nomination other than those recommended by the State Governments/Central Ministries.
- After scrutiny and short listing by Screening Committee, the final selections of the Awardees are made by the National Selection Committee which takes into account the recommendations of the Screening Committee.
About Nari Shakti Puruskars:
- Nari Shakti Puruskasr is conferred annually by President on the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8 every year since 1999.
- “Nari Shakti Puruskars” is conferred to eminent women and institutions rendering distinguished service to the cause of women especially belonging to the vulnerable and marginalized sections of the society.
- Ministry of Women and Child Development announces these awards every year to eminent women, organizations and institutions.
- From the year 2016, 20 Nari Shakti Puruskars is conferred every year to the awardees.
- The Award in each category carries a Certificate and a Cash Amount of 2 Lakh Rupees.
