  • On October 15, 2017, ‘National Women’s Farmer’s Day’ was celebrated in all Agricultural Universities, Institutions and Agricultural Science Centers across the country.
  • The aim of this day is to increase the active participation of women in agriculture.
  • It is worth mentioning that in 2016, it was decided to celebrate ‘October 15’ every year as ‘National Women’s Farmer’s Day by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
  • Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister informed that keeping in view the key role of women in agriculture, in the year 1996, the Ministry established ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha.
  • There are 680 agricultural science centers in the country.
  • In the year 2016-17, 21 techniques related to women were evaluated and 2.56 lakh women were trained in agriculture-related fields like sewing, manufacturing, value addition, rural handicraft, animal husbandry, beekeeping, poultry, fisheries, etc.
