- On 5th April, 2017, the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the MoU between India and Australia on cooperation in the field of Health and Medicine.
- The main areas of cooperation include communicable diseases such as Malaria and TB; mental Health and Non-Communicable Diseases; anti-Microbial Resistance and responding to public health emergencies.
- The MoU will also cover regulation of Pharmaceuticals, vaccines and medical devices; digital Health; Tobacco Control and any other area of cooperation decided mutually between the two countries.
- The MoU will involve cooperation through joint initiatives in the Health Sector and strengthen bilateral ties between India and Australia.
- In reference to the question above, it’s notable that 18th International Mental Health Conference – 2017 will be held in Australia from 21 August –23 August 2017.
