- Manganese Ore India Limited (MOIL) is a Miniratna Category – 1 CPSE under the Ministry of Steel, Govt. of India.
- MOIL is the largest producer of manganese ore in the country.
- At present, the Government of India holds 56.01% share in the company, Maharashtra Government has 4.71%, and MP Government holds 4.97%.
Production of MOIL
- Core production (non-fines) jumped 15% during the year (2018-19).
- Total production crossed 13 lakh MT in FY 19, which is the highest achievement in last ten years.
- Non-fines sales are also at a record-high of 11 lakh MT (up by 13% y-o-y).
- The total production growth in last three years is around 30%.
- Currently, MOIL holds 34% of manganese ore reserves of the country and is contributing 50% of the domestic production.
Indian Manganese Reserves:
- State wise, Odisha tops the total reserves/resources with 44% share followed by Karnataka 22%, Madhya Pradesh 12%, Maharashtra and Goa 7% each, Andhra Pradesh 4% and Jharkhand 2%.
- Rajasthan, Gujarat, Telangana and West Bengal together shared the remaining about 2% resources.
