  • On 25th June, 2017, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tivendra Singh Rawat announced a ‘Metro Rail Project’ connecting Dehradun to Haridwar.
  • This project was launched on the occasion to mark 100 days of BJP governments in Uttarakhand.
  • A booklet, ‘100 Din Sarkar Ke, 100 Din Vikas Ke’, prepared by the state’s public relation department has also been launched on the occasion.
  • This project will help meet the rising vehicular traffic in the State specially in Dehradun. .
  • To reduce travel time by at least two hours between Dehradun and Delhi, the Muzaffarnagar-Deoband-Roorkee railway line project will be completed soon.
  • It is also notable that Union Ministry for Road Transport and Highways, has already sanctioned Ring Road projects for Dehradun, Haridwar and Haldwani.
