On 12 July 2017 in India, Lilly Singh visited a school run by the Madhya Pradesh State government in Bhopal where she met with students 11- 14 years of age. UNICEF’s newest Goodwill Ambassador Lilly Singh undertook a three-day field trip to India’s Madhya Pradesh state between 12-14 June 2017, visiting a state run school in Bhopal, a youth empowerment project in Harda, a village sanitation project, as well as other UNICEF supported initiatives. The state’s population includes 30.5 million children under the age of 18, or 42 percent of its total population. One in seven children between 0 and 6 years of age in India is from the state, India's second largest by area. Singh, who was announced as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador on Saturday, 15 July 2017, will work with UNICEF to engage young people in speaking out about the issues they face such as violence, abuse, and neglect. Her role with UNICEF will compliment her Girl Love initiative, which aims to end to girl-on-girl hate and instead focuses on positivity by encouraging support of women and girls.
