- On 29th November 1947, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted the resolution on the partition of Palestine.
- In 1977 UNGA decided to observe the 29th November as “International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian People” every year. Its observance finally started in 1978.
- On this day UN encourages Member States to continue to give the widest support and publicity to the observance of the Day of Solidarity.
