- On November 10, 2017, the Union Cabinet approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between India and the Philippines for cooperation in agriculture and related fields.
- This will help in understanding the best agricultural practices between the two countries and will help in improving access to advanced global markets as well as better productivity.
- The MoU has made provisions for cooperation in the following areas: paddy production and processing, multifold system, dry land farming system, organic farming, solid and water maintenance and management, soil fertility, silk pest farming, agriculture forestry and livestock improvement.
- There is also a provision for the formation of a Joint Working Group in this MOU, in which the number of representatives of both countries will be included.
- The Joint Working Group meeting will be held simultaneously once every two years in the Philippines and India.
