  • On 21st October, 2017 a function was organized in the Reserve Police Line, Lucknow to commemorate Police Memorial Day.
  • The Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh also attended the function.
  • On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced to increase the ex-gratia amount given to the kin of policemen killed on duty, from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 40 lakh.
  • Apart from this, he also announced the increment in the amount to be given to the parents of martyred.
  • After announcement this amount will be Rs. 10 lakhs, while earlier it was Rs. 5 lakhs.
  • Thus, the ex-gratia amount given to the families of martyr of policemen and their parents will reach in total to 50 lakh rupees.
  • The decision to upgrade the number of Appreciation signs of DGP, by 200 to 950, for all the units of Police Department, non gazetted / gazetted officers of Fire police and PAC For the excellent and commendable service; has also been taken.
  • In present Sulkhan Singh is the Director General of Police of Uttar Pradesh.
