- On 27th May 2021 Assam government announced the appointment of ‘Guardian Ministers’ for districts in the state of Assam.
Facts
- These Guardian Ministers, each a minister of Hemant Biswa Sarma Cabinet, have been given the responsibility of 2-3 districts to take stock of welfare schemes, implementation of infrastructure projects etc.
- They will not involve directly in the administration and with people of district but will be responsible for administration in the districts under their charge.
- The guardian ministers will be assigned with a secretary each and both will have to visit their districts at least once a month.
- They will also have to visit the districts during emergency situations.
