  • On 1st November, Exercise DHARMA GUARDIAN- 2018, 14 days joint military exercise between Indian & Japanese Armies, commenced at Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School, Vairengete, Mizoram, India.
  • The Japanese contingent is being represented by 32nd Infantry Battalion, while the Indian side is being represented by 6/1 Gorkha Rifles with 1 platoon strength from each side.




  • The exercise will consist of a balance of indoor classes and outdoor training activities with an objective to build and promote army to army relations in addition to exchanging skills and experiences between both the armies.
  • Exercise ‘DHARMA GUARDIAN-2018’ will be another step in deepening strategic ties including closer defence cooperation between the two countries. It will contribute immensely in developing mutual understanding and respect for each other’s militaries and also facilitate tracking the worldwide phenomenon of terrorism.
