- On December 13, 2017, the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet in the interest of the farmers of the state, decided to operate the vermi compost unit installation scheme.
- According to the scheme, keeping in mind the fertility of the land with a view to get maximum productivity and to avoid the adverse effects of chemical fertilizers, to increase the amount of carbon, nitrogen in the land and to bring changes in the economic condition of the farmers, every revenue villages in the state have been sanctioned for establishment of one unit per annum.
- Under the scheme, the beneficiaries of the reserved category in the villages reserved for scheduled castes / tribes and women will be selected on the basis of first come-first-serve.
- Farmer will supply Vermi Compost Pitt seven feet long, three feet wide and one feet deep-sized unit from his own resources. After the establishment of the unit, the government will send 75 percent subsidy directly to the farmers’ accounts per unit.
- This scheme will be operated by the National Agriculture Development Scheme and the special grant from the Uttar Pradesh government.
