  • The Edelman Trust Barometer is released by Edelman Intelligence just ahead of World Economic Forum (WEF) on 21 January, 2019. The latest report ranked China on top of the trust index among the informed public and general population segment.

Key Highlights:

  • The overall Global Trust Index has increased to 52 with 3 point increase. The report is made on the basis of an on line survey done in 27 markets covering over 33,000 respondents.
  • India is one of the most trusted nations globally in government, business, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and media. The country`s brands are least trusted posing a worry infront.
  • Switzerland, Germany and Canada are the most trusted in terms of the trust in companies headquartered in each market with a trust score of 70. Japan is second with 69 percent.
  • The report also mentions that companies with headquarters in India, Mexico and Brazil are least trusted, followed by China and South Korea.
  • The score of India and Brazil is 40% and of China is 41 % respectively.
  • There are 14 markets in which majority of mass population do not believe that they will be better off in five years.
  • 75 percent of people trust My Employer to do what is right, significantly more than NGOs (57%) and media (47%).
  • Only one in five feels that the system is working for them and around half of population believes that the system is falling them.
