- On 4th March 2021, Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Housing and Urban Affairs(GOI) released final rankings of Ease of Living Index (EoLI) 2020 and the Municipal Performance Index (MPI) 2020.
Rankings Ease of Living Index (EoLI) 2020:
- Bengaluru emerged as the top performer in the Million plus population category.
- It was followed by Pune, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Surat, Navi Mumbai, oimbatore, Vadodara, Indore, and Greater Mumbai.
- In the Less than Million category, Shimla was ranked the highest.
- 111 cities had participated in the assessment.
Rankings Municipal Performance Index (MPI) 2020:
- In the million plus population category, Indore has emerged as the highest ranked municipality.
- Surat and Bhopal were ranked 2nd and 3rd respectively.
- In the Less than Million category, New Delhi Municipal Council has emerged as the leader, followed by Tirupati and Gandhinagar.
- The MPI assessed sectoral performance of 111 municipalities (with Delhi being assessed separately for NDMC, and the three Municipal Corporations).
